Sustainability plans for four health centres in Kigali, Rwanda

AEDES developed a sustainability plan for four health centres in Kigali, Rwanda. The overall objective of the mission was to assist the Ministry of Health and Rwanda Biomedical Centre in the effective and efficient planning of new health infrastructure development.

Four large health centres were constructed and opened in 2013 in the City of Kigali.  These large structures include consultations services, maternity, Primary health Care services as well as some hospitalization beds.  Considering their size and the need to increase geographical coverage of services in Kigali, the Ministry of Health has developed the concept of medicalized health centres with the availability of Medical Doctor on site. The sustainability plan was developed to outline a strategy for successful implementation for having permanent Medical Doctor attached to those four medicalized health centres in Kigali.

The mission has been carried in the context of the programme UBUZIMA BURAMBYE (Long Healthy Life) supported by Enabel and implemented under management of Rwanda's Ministry of Health.
