The new Libyan European partnership for infectious diseases control programme

AEDES is a partner of the Belgian Red Cross for the implementation of the new Libyan European partnership for infectious diseases control programme.

Taking into account the lessons learnt from the previous projects experiences in Libya and the obvious need to expand the activities towards Infectious diseases (ID) and to the whole country, the scope of the new Libyan European partnership for infectious diseases control programme (LEPIDC) is more ambitious and challenging than the previous one.

It aims at enlarging the support to the country at various levels:

  • Moving from support only targeted at Benghazi centre to a wider support to regional hospitals of the country. ID units in five regional hospitals will be targeted.
  • Moving from a support mainly oriented to the provision of care at facility level to institutional support to the NCIDC.
  • Moving from a transfer of knowledge essentially based on "continuous training" towards support for initial training through the development of curricula which include application of knowledge, practical skills and professionalism with particular emphasis on confronting stigmatisation of PLHIV.
